Men’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule
08/21/2025 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond men's basketball revealed its non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season Thursday, featuring 13 matchups against in-state rivals and top-tier mid-major programs — with an unprecedented nine of those games in the Robins Center. The Spiders will also play a pair of road games during the non-conference season and have two games at the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational at Walt Disney World the week of Thanksgiving.
With nine home games during the non-conference season and an additional nine Atlantic 10 conference games at home, Richmond will play 18 regular-season games in the Robins Center this season, its most since the arena opened in 1972.
The Spiders will open their season with a five-game homestand, the most consecutive home games for the program in 41 years, starting against Southern Virginia on November 5. Richmond will host East Carolina on November 8 before taking on a pair of in-state rivals in William & Mary (November 11) and VMI (November 19). The homestand, Richmond's longest in a season since playing five straight home games from January to February in 1984, will end with a game vs Gardner-Webb on November 22.
"We're excited about our non-conference schedule and having the opportunity to play before our fans, friends, and families at the Robins Center nine times during the non-conference season," said Spiders coach Chris Mooney. "Defending our home court and facing some very accomplished programs on the road will help prepare us for the rigors of our Atlantic 10 season."
The Spiders will spend Thanksgiving Week at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. for the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational. The Spiders will face Furman on Thanksgiving Day (November 27) in the first round of the Imagination Bracket and then take on either Charlotte or Illinois State on November 28. Tickets are on sale now.
Richmond will travel to Nashville for its first-ever game at Belmont on December 3 before returning to the Robins Center for four of its final five non-conference games. In that span, the Spiders will host Old Dominion (December 6), Southern Illinois (December 13), The Citadel (December 20), and Charleston Southern (December 28), with a road game at Elon (December 17) in between.
Richmond's 18 regular-season home games in 2025-26 will be the most for the program since the 1955-56 season, when the Spiders played 19 regular-season home games, including three as host of the Southern Conference Tournament at Richmond Arena, the program's home court from 1954 to 1971.
Tip-off times and TV broadcast information for all Richmond non-conference games will be updated on RichmondSpiders.com as they become available. UR's full schedule, including Atlantic 10 games, will be announced in September.
Existing season ticket holders are able to renew their seats through September 15 by calling the Richmond Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-SPIDER-1 or logging into their account and completing the Season Renewal Application. Fans interested in becoming new season ticket holders can place a deposit now and will be contacted in late September to choose their seats for the season. Single-game tickets will go on sale in October.
The Spiders will also host JMU in an exhibition game on October 25 at the Robins Center. The game will be open to the public and included in all Spider season ticket holder packages. Additional tickets will be made available when single-game tickets go on sale.
