Four Men's Golfers Named GCAA All-American Scholars

RICHMOND, Va — Four members of the Richmond men's golf team were named Cobalt Golf All-American Scholars when the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its annual academic honors Tuesday.
Cole Ekert, Patrick Isztwan, Drew Carlin, and Jack LaPiana were named All-American Scholars after meeting the program's stringent qualifications:
• Must have played in at least 50 percent of a team's competitive rounds during the season
• Must have posted a stroke average under 76.0
• Must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
• Must have displayed high moral character
Freshmen are not eligible for the award.
2025 is the fifth straight year at least four Spiders have been named All-American Scholars, with four selections in 2024, five in 2023, four in 2022, and a school-record six All-American Scholars in 2021. Prior to 2021, no more than three Richmond golfers had been named All-American Scholars in the same year.
Ekert has now been named an All-American Scholar in each of the last three years, while this is the second straight All-American Scholar honor for Carlin. It's the first time Isztwan or LaPiana have been named to the team. They become the 20th and 21st different Spiders to earn All-American Scholar honors.
