
Doogan, Budnik Headline VaSID All-State Women’s Basketball Awards for Richmond

Doogan lands First Team spot; Budnik named to Second Team, Defensive Player of the Year
RICHMOND, Va. — Graduate forward Addie Budnik and junior forward Maggie Doogan were highlighted on the 2024-25 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Women's Basketball Teams on Tuesday, headlined by Budnik being named the VaSID Defensive Player of the Year as well as to the the All-State Second Team while Doogan was named to the All-State First Team.
Budnik, a five-year standout for the Spiders, capped her career with her second VaSID major award, having been named Rookie of the Year in 2020-21. She was a force on both ends of the floor this season, starting all 35 games and averaging 10.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Budnik led the Spiders with 33 blocks, added 28 steals and hit 57 three-pointers at a 39.0 percent clip. She finished her career with 1,897 points, third-most in program history, and closed out the 2024-25 season with 374 points, 144 rebounds and 103 assists.
Doogan continued her rise as one of the nation's premier mid-major talents, becoming the first player in Richmond history to be named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. A finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, Doogan averaged 17.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 55.5 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from three-point range. She scored in double figures in 32 of 35 games, including a 24-game double digit scoring streak and a career-high 37-point performance against George Mason. Doogan also posted a 30-point, 15-rebound outing in Richmond's first NCAA Tournament win over Georgia Tech.
The VaSID All-State teams are voted on by sports information representatives across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
