RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond field hockey head coach Martu Loncarica has announced the team's 2025 schedule, playing 10 games at Crenshaw Field as part of an 18-contest regular season. UR will face non-conference foes from six different conferences, including three of the four 2024 NCAA Championship semifinalists, and have six Atlantic 10 Conference match-ups.
"We've built this schedule to challenge our team against some of the best programs in the country," said Loncarica. "Playing six Top 20 opponents reflects our belief in where Richmond Field Hockey is headed. I'm excited to see what this group can do, and I can't wait for the season to get started."
"This group is ready to take another big step forward, and this schedule will prepare us for the moments that matter most," said Loncarica. "We were the second most improved team in the nation last year, jumping from 66th to 34th in the rankings. Competing against top teams is part of our ambitious goal of breaking into the Top 20."
The 2025 season will kick off with three-straight home games, as the Spiders host Longwood August 29 before welcoming in 2024 NCAA National Champion Northwestern August 31.
UR will open September at home, taking on James Madison September 5, then take a quick trip to face Liberty in Lynchburg, Va., September 7.
Georgetown will head to Crenshaw Field, September 12 before Richmond will take on Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va., September 14.
Richmond will open Atlantic 10 Conference play hosting Lock Haven September 19.
The Spiders will head on the team's first road trip out of the commonwealth to face La Salle in league action September 26 and stay in the city to face Big East opponent Temple September 28.
October opens with the Spiders hosting Saint Louis in A-10 play on the 3rd and MAC member Ball State on the 5th.
UR then heads to North Carolina for the first of two trips south in 2025, first taking on Davidson October 10, then Queens October 12.
2024 NCAA Championship runner-up and reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Champion Saint Joseph's heads to Richmond October 17. American then returns to Crenshaw Field October 19 to face the Spiders for the first time since 2023.
The Spiders make the trip south to Chapel Hill, N.C., October 24 to face perennial field hockey powerhouse North Carolina October 24.
Richmond will celebrate Senior Day October 26 against William & Mary at Crenshaw Field. The Spiders will close out the regular season on October 31 with a conference rivalry match-up against crosstown foe VCU at Cary Street Field.
The 2025 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship semifinals will be on November 6 and the Championship Final on November 8 on a campus site to be determined.
