Richmond, Va. — With the 21st overall pick in the 2025 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft, the Utah Archers selected University of Richmond graduate defenseman Mitchell Dunham.
Dunham, selected as the fifth pick in the third round during Tuesday night's draft, becomes the first active Spider ever drafted into a PLL club.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 220 pounds, Dunham ranks third nationally with 37 caused turnovers and has added 48 ground balls this season. A graduate transfer from Mount St. Mary's, he has made an immediate impact in his lone season with Richmond. Dunham has recorded a caused turnover in 15 games this year, including five each against Georgetown and High Point, and ranks third all-time for the Spiders in single-season caused turnovers.
He was twice named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week (March 24 and April 14), earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, and was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team.
Dunham has played a key role in Richmond's nationally elite defense, which ranks second in scoring defense (7.75 goals allowed per game) and scoring margin (6.06), while also ranking third in caused turnovers per game (11.44) and second in clearing percentage (.917).
Dunham and the Spiders will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face eighth-seeded North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The game is scheduled for Saturday, May 10 at noon at UNC's Dorrance Field.
