
Spiders Add DePaul Transfer David Thomas

RICHMOND, Va. — David Thomas, a 6'2" guard from McDonough, Ga., will transfer to Richmond and play for the Spiders this upcoming season.
Thomas spent last season with DePaul in the Big East Conference. He appeared in 27 game with two starts for the Blue Demons as a sophomore, averaging 4.0 points and 1.4 assists per game.
Thomas was one of the top freshmen in the Southern Conference in 2023-24 at Mercer University. He scored 11.0 points per game, third among SoCon freshmen, and shot 40% from three-point range, seventh in the conference among qualifiers. Among all D-I freshmen with at least 50 assists in 2023-24, Thomas had the 11th highest assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.26.
Against The Citadel in the opening round of the 2024 SoCon Tournament, Thomas scored a career-high 27 points on 10-15 shooting from the field. He was subsequently named to the All-Tournament Second Team following the event.
Thomas prepped at Eagle's Landing High School, where he was named Class 5A State Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2023. Thomas was a First Team All-State selection by the AJC in 2022 and 2023, and led Eagle's Landing to the 5A state championship game in both seasons.
Thomas is the second member of Richmond's 2025 transfer class, joining Loyola Marymount transfer Will Johnston.
