RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond field hockey head coach Martu Loncarica announced Joe Chomet as the program's newest assistant coach Tuesday. Chomet brings extensive experience from his work in elite-level coaching in England, as well as previous tenures with the physical preparation team for the Great Britain National Teams.
"We are incredibly lucky to welcome Joe Chomet to our team," Loncarica said. "Joe brings a wealth of experience, having worked with both men's and women's programs at a high level, including with Great Britain and England Hockey.
"He has made a significant impact everywhere he's been, and we have no doubt he will do the same here," Loncarica said. "His passion for the game is matched only by his commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field."
As a Performance Hockey Coach at Whitgift School in London, he helped guide teams to multiple national titles across several age groups. He also led the Women's 1st team as head coach at Spencer Hockey Club to historic success, earning the club's first ever promotion to the National League, followed by year-on-year improvement.
Chomet has also been involved at multiple levels of the England Hockey Player Pathway, coaching at London Development Centre, South England Regional Performance Centre and Wimbledon Talent Academy, allowing him to work closely with some of England's best up and coming talent. While working within the Great Britain Hockey program, he provided both the men's and women's national teams with physiological support such as athlete monitoring, GPS tracking and heat acclimation. During this time, he worked closely with world-leading coaches and athletes.
"Joe is not only a talented coach but a genuinely great person who leads with integrity, care, and purpose," said Loncarica. "He aligns deeply with our program's values and is committed to building a culture of selflessness, courage, and grit. We're excited for what's ahead with him on board."
