MESA, Ariz. – A quartet of Richmond women's basketball standouts will head west to represent the Spiders at the 2025 USA Basketball 3X Nationals, taking place May 2–4 at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
Rising seniors Maggie Doogan, Rachel Ullstrom, Sam Dewey and rising junior Ally Sweeney will suit up for Richmond in the 3x3-style tournament, which includes 16 women's teams including national powers like South Carolina, Florida, TCU, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, James Madison and Fairfield as well as top independent entries such as 3XBA and Team Phoenix.
The event will serve as an evaluation for future USA Basketball 3x3 national team selections, including opportunities to represent the U.S. at events such as the 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, Women's Series, and U23 competitions later this summer.
Preliminary play begins Friday, with seeding and medal-round games set for Sunday. All games will be streamed live via YouTube.com/USABasketball and X (formerly Twitter). Admission is free to the public, and ticket reservations are encouraged for fans attending in person.
3x3 basketball is played on a half court with a 12-second shot clock and a 10-minute game clock. The first team to 21 points, or the team leading at the end of regulation, wins.
Richmond's selection to participate follows a record-breaking 2024–25 season that saw the Spiders emerge as one of the nation's top mid-major programs. UR finished the year with one of the strongest resumes in the country, backed by elite-level advanced statistics:
