RICHMOND, Va. — University of Richmond junior Henry Haase delivered a standout performance Saturday morning, surging to victory at the 2025 Collegiate 10K Road Race National Championship, held in conjunction with the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K presented by Kroger. Haase, a key member of the Spiders' cross country and track and field teams, crossed the finish line in 30:31 to earn the individual national title and lead a strong contingent of Richmond student-athletes on their home course.
Now in its 11th year, the Collegiate 10K Road Race National Championship welcomed more than 1,700 student-athletes from colleges across the country. Haase's thrilling win marked a major personal achievement, improving on his third-place finish from the 2024 championship and securing a share of the event's $3,000 prize purse.
Haase executed a smart race strategy, staying with the lead pack before making a decisive move in the final mile, running under 4:40 over the closing stretch to outpace Nate Jennings of William & Mary (30:43). Conor Clifford of the University of Georgia, who pushed the early pace, finished just off the podium in fourth.
"This was such a special day," Haase said after his win. "Warming up with my teammates and representing the University of Richmond here in our city — it means a lot. We came in motivated, and I'm proud to bring this title home for Spider Nation."
Junior Taylor Healy also impressed in the men's field, charging through the back half of the race to finish third in 32:04, using negative splits of 16:13 and 15:51 to power through the final 5K.
On the women's side, Richmond packed the top of the leaderboard, placing four runners in the top six overall. Katie Sinclair led the way for the Spiders in second place with a time of 36:55, followed by Charlotte Hudson (37:57), Paige Joyce (38:07) and Addie Cohen (38:09). The group ran together through the 5K mark (19:23) before closing with strong negative splits.
All top-10 finishers in the men's and women's collegiate races received commemorative awards, with the top three in each category earning prize money and product packages from Jambar, the official energy bar sponsor of the Collegiate Running Association.
The race capped off a celebratory day in the city, with more than 25,000 participants taking part in Richmond's largest race weekend and street festival. The Collegiate Running Association continues to partner with the University of Richmond to create high-level competition and meaningful race experiences for college athletes of all backgrounds.
A post-race champions' warm-down and awards celebration followed the event, with Spider athletes connecting with competitors from across the country in a show of sportsmanship and school pride.
