
Jaffe’s Two Home Run Day Blasts Spiders Past Riverhawks

RICHMOND, Va. – Jordan Jaffe had four hits, including two home runs and a double, and four RBI to power the Richmond baseball team past UMass Lowell, 11-1 in seven innings, Friday at Pitt Field.
Richmond, now 11-2 on the season, will face Lafayette at 10 a.m. and UMass Lowell at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pitt Field.
UMass Lowell got an unearned run off UR starter Esteban Rodriguez in the first as he only allowed three hits and a hit batter while striking out five in five innings of work. Ryan Bilka took over, allowing one walk and one hit, for two scoreless frames.
Jaffe got the Spiders going with a RBI base double in the first inning, bringing in Phil Bernstein from second. Then in the third he hit a solo home run to start the Spiders scoring. Jack Arcamone, who also went four-for-five at the dish against UML, picked up Brady O'Brien with a double down the right field line to push Richmond's lead to 3-1 in the third.
Jaffe picked up his second home run on the day and fifth overall for the season to kick start Richmond's scoring in the fifth inning. UR tallied three more runs on four more hits in the frame including a two-RBI base hit by Aaron Whitley to make it 7-1.
Whitley collected an RBI sacrifice fly to start the Spiders scoring in the seventh. Jaffe picked up Connor Larson with a base hit to left for the second run of the frame. Larson had three hits on the and a stolen base. Arcamone ended the game with a two RBI base hit to right field as the Spiders hit the 10-run rule in the seventh.
