Arcamone, Bilka Lead Spider Baseball Past Boston College

Richmond, now 8-2 on the season, will host Toledo Sunday to close out the Central Virginia Challenge with a noon first pitch at Pitt Field and streaming on ESPN+. The all-time series match up is now tied between the programs after BC took the 2024 match up, 7-2, also in the Central Virginia Challenge.
BC got a run off UR starter Chase Topolski on two hits, then it was all Richmond. Ryan Bilka took over on the mound in the second and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard for five innings, working around two hits and striking out five to pick up his second victory of the year.
Jordan Jaffe brought in Aaron Whitley from second with an RBI base hit through the infield in the first. In the second, a sacrifice fly by Aidan O'Keefe gave the Spiders a lead they never let go of.
Connor Larson had a strong day at the plate. He led off the third with a double, took third on a Whitley fly out and scored on a wild pitch. With two outs and two on via walks, Jack Arcamone hit a three-run home run to push the Spiders lead out to 6-1, for his third home run of the season.
Richmond tacked on single runs in the fourth as Phil Bernstein brought in Whitley to extend his hit streak to eight games. In his first start in left field, Grant Kennedy got his first hit in the second, then followed it up with his first RBI double in the fifth.
In the seventh, Larson launched his first home run of the season, clearing the right field patio area.
The Spiders tallied two more runs on base hits by Jaffe and Arcamone to increase the squad's lead to 10-1. Jaffe now leads the team with 14 RBI while Arcamone is second with 10.
Boston College had a late rally after getting a run in the seventh off Tyler Rigot and two more in the ninth off of Jason Shockley, but fell short.
