Men’s Tennis Ranked Third in A-10 Preseason Poll, Two Spiders Earn All-Conference Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team was picked to finish third in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Defending A-10 champion VCU topped the poll with 98 points and eight first-place votes, while Dayton followed in second with 92 points and two first-place votes. Richmond claimed third with 77 points, ahead of Davidson (70) and George Mason (51), which rounded out the top five. Saint Louis (46), Duquesne (39), Saint Joseph's (33), Fordham (24) and St. Bonaventure (20) completed the rankings.
In addition to the poll, junior Davis Wiley and sophomore Cole Brashear earned spots on the 2025 Preseason All-Conference Team.
Wiley, an Arlington, Va. native, was named to the A-10 All-Conference Second Team last season after posting a 9-10 singles record, with seven wins coming from the No. 3 singles position. He opened the season with a 3-0 streak, securing victories over Army, Rider and Sacred Heart. In doubles, Wiley and Brashear formed a strong partnership, finishing with a 12-5 record on court No. 2, marking the most doubles wins on the team.
Brashear, a Las Vegas, Nev. native, made an immediate impact in his freshman campaign, compiling a 5-1 singles record on court No. 6. He played a pivotal role in Richmond's postseason, securing a straight-set victory over No. 7 St. Bonaventure's Jean Marrero to help the Spiders to a 4-1 win in the A-10 Championship opener. In doubles, Brashear and Wiley opened the season with a 3-0 streak and closed with 12 victories.
The Spiders are back in action this weekend in Annapolis, Md. On Saturday, the Spiders take on Georgetown at 5 p.m. before a matchup against Navy on Sunday at 10 a.m.
