12/18/2025 | Men's Tennis
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team announced its 2026 spring schedule on Thursday, highlighted by 15 home matches at the Westhampton Tennis Complex and a competitive slate ahead of the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship in Orlando, Fla. in April.
Richmond opens the calendar year on Jan. 8 at the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Liberty, serving as a final tune-up before the dual match season begins. The Spiders then officially open dual action with road matches at Liberty on Jan. 24 and Old Dominion on Jan. 30 before opening the home slate on Jan. 31 against UNCG.
February features a balance of road tests and home opportunities, beginning with an Atlantic 10 road match at crosstown rival VCU on Feb. 6 and a trip to Longwood on Feb. 15. The Spiders return to Richmond to host Brown on Feb. 21 before closing the month with a neutral match against LIU on Feb. 27 in Annapolis, Md., followed by a true road matchup against Navy on Feb. 28.
Richmond's busiest stretch comes in March, starting with a home match against Campbell on March 4. The Spiders host a doubleheader March 6 against James Madison and Randolph-Macon, followed by home contests with Furman on March 8, Delaware on March 20 and Georgetown on March 21. Road matches during March feature The Citadel on March 11 and Davidson on March 14, while the Spiders resume A-10 play at George Mason on March 27.
The home-heavy April slate begins April 2 against William & Mary and continues with Morgan State on April 3, Howard on April 10 and a doubleheader April 11 against Hampton and Coppin State. Richmond closes the regular season at home with Atlantic 10 matches against Duquesne on April 17 and Fordham on April 18.
The Atlantic 10 Championship is slated to begin April 22.
Head coach Houston Barrick enters his ninth season at the helm after guiding the Spiders to a 12-9 record in 2025, and a 4-2 mark in A-10 play while notching a spot in the A-10 semifinal match.
"The 2026 schedule is one of the strongest and deepest we've had in recent years," Barrick said. "With several top regional and national opponents scheduled, our players will be tested from start to finish. This year's schedule also includes the most home matches during my time at Richmond, which will give our student-athletes the opportunity to compete in front of our fans at the Westhampton Tennis Complex."
