
Derr, Larripa and Luna Paratore Collect VaSID Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Alexa Derr, Clara Larripa and Valen Luna Paratore were named to the 2024 VaSID Field Hockey University Division All-State squads. Luna Paratore collected Rookie of the Year honors and joins Larripa on the First Team. Derr picked up Second Team accolades.
Larripa also collected the NFHCA All-South First Team, Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and All-Academic honors after being named to the Preseason All- Atlantic 10 and the NFHCA Division I Watchlist. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native finished the season with a team-leading 32 points on 12 goals and eight assists in 19 starts. A key to the squad's return to postseason action for the first time since 2021, Larripa was one of four players in NCAA Division 1 to score four goals in a game, the first to do so of the 2024 season on September 1 against William & Mary. In the career-high nine-point game, all four of her goals against the Tribe were over a five-minute span of game action. Larripa collected NFHCA All-Atlantic Region First Team honors in 2023 as a member of La Salle's program.
Luna Paratore joined Larripa as an Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team selection and an All-Rookie team member. She collected NFHCA All-South Region Second Team accolades after being named to the NFHCA Division I Watchlist in the preseason. Also a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Luna Paratore finished second with 25 total points on 12 goals and one assist, while starting in all 19 contests as a forward. She was named A-10 Rookie of the Week four times, the most in program history since the 2005 season. She had a career day against Lock Haven with a seven-point game including her first career hat trick and an assist on the team's fourth goal. Luna Paratore tallied the game-winning goals against App State, Longwood, Saint Louis and Towson.
Derr, who started all 19 games on the defensive line, finished the season ranked fifth on the team in scoring with eight points on six assists and one goal. The Palmyra, Pa. native put together a standout performance came on Oct. 4 against La Salle, when Derr scored her first goal of the season and added two assists to record a career-high four-point game. She also had defensive save against James Madison (Oct. 6).
The Spiders finished the 2024 season 11-8 and 5-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference action and made the program's first A-10 Championship semifinal appearance since 2021.
