Richmond rising seniors Erin Marie Geoghan (Highland, Maryland) and Anna Jeszeck (Cortlandt Manor, New York) were both named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll.
The IWLCA named 738 student-athletes in total to its Honor Roll from 162 different institutions from all three NCAA divisions. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA or 3.50 or greater.
Geoghan, a mathematics major, played in all 18 games last season, making 16 starts on the defensive side. She was key in helping the Richmond defense hold opponents to a school record-low 7.83 goals-against average. She was one of three defenders to wrangle 20 or more ground balls for the season. She spent part of her summer in the
Academics and Athletics in Spain” program, a five-week summer study-abroad opportunity where students take an academic course and train in their specific sport to fulfill a general education language requirement for graduation.
Jeszeck, a co-captain on the 2014 squad and business major, scored the fifth-most goals, 24, on the squad, while garnering the second-most assists (15) and total points (39) in 2014. Her 24 ground balls were fourth-most by a Spider this previous season. She earned a summer internship with LeadDog Marketing Group and spent ten weeks over the summer in New York City.
Both Geoghan and Jeszeck were named to the Atlantic 10 Conference's Academic All-Conference team in 2014.
On the field, the Spiders finished second in the A-10 and won their way to the A-10 Championship game en route to a 11-7 record, the most wins for the program since 2007.
