Minnesota Pulls Away From Spiders Down The Stretch

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond men's basketball team led by four with seven minutes to play, but Minnesota pulled out a 74-59 win on Saturday night in the Robins Center.
Senior guard Cedrick Lindsay led the Spiders (2-1) with a team-high 15 points, while sophomore Deion Taylor added 11. Sophomore Alonzo Nelson-Ododa finished with 9 points and 8 rebounds, while Terry Allen grabbed a game-high 12 boards.The Spiders fell behind by 14 early in the game, but cut it to one before the half. Richmond took a four-point lead on a layup by junior Kendall Anthony with 7:25 reamining, but Minnesota tied the game at 59 with 6:26 left and took the lead for good on a jumper by Andre Hollins with 5:24 remaining.
After Anthony's layup with 7:25 remaining, Richmond went 0-for-11 from the field, including 10 attempts from behind the arc. The Spiders shot 54 percent on two-point field goals on the night, but were 3-of-25 from three.
Richmond will finish a four-game homestand to start the season on Tuesday, when the Spiders play host to the Hofstra Pride in the Hall of Fame Tipoff at 7 p.m.
