UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Becca Wann scored the game-winner in the 80th minute, as Richmond edged Saint Louis, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.
Wann received the feed from Ashley Williams and buried the shot in the left side of the goal at close range.
Richmond improved to 7-7-1, 3-2-1 overall. Saint Louis fell to 3-8-3, 1-3-1. Richmond gained three points for the win, helping with the cluttered middle of the A-10 standings.
"It was a gutty win against a really difficult team to break down," said head coach Peter Albright. "It really helps us with the conference standings to earn a place in the playoff spot."
Richmond improved to 4-1-1 at Robins Stadium in its last home game of the season. Wann leads all Spiders with seven goals and 15 points.
Richmond dominated the shot category, 20-8, led by Natalie LeClair's seven shots. Richmond had four corners to Saint Louis' two and Andrea Young had three saves in the net.
The Spiders play cross-town rival and new A-10 member, VCU, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at Sports Backers Stadium.
