During his time at the University of Richmond, offensive lineman Wayne Fowler branded his name among the most dominant lineman in Southern Conference history. A Second Team All-American in 1969 and a third-team selection in 1968, Fowler earned the prestigious Jacobs Blocking Trophy both seasons as the best blocker in football. He also earned All-Southern Conference and All-South honors in 1968 and 1969. Fowler helped lead the Spiders to the 1968 Tangerine Bowl where Richmond defeated Ohio University, 49-42. Following his collegiate career, Fowler played in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. The Buffalo Bills drafted Fowler in 1970 and he played in the NFL during that season. Unfortunately, a car accident cut short his promising professional career. Fowler went on to be the president and owner of Fowler Advertising in Annapolis, Md.
