John Wicker played football at Richmond from 1911 to 1914 as a quarterback and center and managed the first Spider basketball team in 1913. In his last six games as a Spider, Wicker played both ways in every minute of every game and blocked at least one kick in each of the six games. He was an active supporter of the Richmond athletic program for more than 60 years.
