Bulifant Named Associate AD for Development
07/11/2025 | General, Spider Athletic Fund
RICHMOND, Va. — Katherine Bulifant has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Development, Richmond Athletics announced Friday. Bulifant, who joined Richmond in 2021, has spent the last four years as UR's Assistant Athletics Director for Annual Giving. In that role, she managed all day-to-day operations of the department's annual giving program. Bulifant has been the senior member of the Spider Athletic Fund staff since March of this year. In April, she led the department's UR Here Giving Day efforts, resulting in a record $1.28 million raised for Richmond Athletics.
"Katherine has played an integral part in our development efforts for years and has guided the Spider Athletic Fund to record-setting results while in a leadership role over the last few months," said Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hardt. "Her knowledge of Spider Athletics and its mission, her ability to lead and inspire her peers in the department, and her relationships with our most loyal supporters make her ideal for this new leadership role."
As Associate Athletics Director for Development, Bulifant will be charged with directing Spider Athletics' development efforts, which ensure that UR student-athletes have the resources necessary to excel athletically, academically, personally, and professionally.
"I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to continue serving the Spider community," said Bulifant. "I'm grateful to John Hardt for his support and for the opportunity to further build on the work we've done for our Spider student-athletes. I'm especially eager to help shape this new era of Spider Athletics in alignment with both our department's strategic plan and the University of Richmond's broader vision for excellence. This is an exciting time to be part of the University of Richmond, and I'm thankful for the chance to contribute in a greater capacity."
Prior to joining Richmond, Bulifant spent two years as the Annual Giving Officer and one year as the Associate Director of Annual Giving at Collegiate School in Richmond. Bulifant also worked at Longwood University, her alma mater, for five years (2014-19), ending her tenure there with a two-year term as the school's Director of Annual Giving. Bulifant, a Richmond native, received her bachelor's degree from Longwood in 2013 and her master's degree in 2014, and added an Institute of Philanthropy Certificate from Richmond in 2015.
